Children & Family services

We are proud to provide quality Occasional Childcare of the highest standard accredited by the Department of Human Services.

Take advantage of this supervised playtime for your child whilst you attend that appointment, take a class, or simply have some time to yourself.

Our coordinator, Renata is a qualified experienced carer of both preschool and school-aged children, and she is ably assisted in her role by Marjon and Una.  
 

OCCASIONAL CHILDCARE  (For under 5s)

When:   Mon, Wed, Friday*
Time:    9 am - 12noon
Cost:     $5.50 per hour  or  $25 per 5hr session

Sessions may be cancelled if insufficient numbers, and we have number limits,  so please be sure to book ahead, and indicate whether you are requiring the childcare whilst doing a class at Selby House.

*Except Public Hoidays & Total Fire Ban days

 

Aged Services

Activities for older members of our community are held fortnightly at the House.

If you, or someone you know, is over the age of 60, living on their own, or isolated from friends and others their age, and could use a little conversation and fun activity, contact Julie, the Aged Needs Coordinator at the House, and she can let you know what is coming up in the program.

 

AGED NEEDS SOCIAL & ACTIVITY GROUP

When:  1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month*
Time:    12.00pm - 3.00pm
Cost:     $2 per person for session

MATERNAL & CHILD HEALTH NURSE

The Shire of Yarra Ranges Maternal and Child Health Service is provided to all residents FREE of charge and offers information, advice and personal support in caring for babies and children up to six years of age. The Selby service operates within Selby Community House.

When:   Tuesdays*
Time:    9 am - 12noon
Cost:     Free

.The service provides information, guidance and support on issues including:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Child health and development
  • Maternal health
  • Parent-child relationships
  • Child accident and injury prevention
  • Home and car safety for children
  • Immunisation
  • Nutrition
  • Family planning
  • Other local support services and resources

Families are able to access the service via centre visits, telephone and in limited circumstances, home visits. Telephone 9754-2111 for appointments or enquiries.

 

Youth Services

Activities for younger members of our community are coming soon to Selby Community House.
